Even before starting my BA in graphic design at Jose Maria Vargas University, I had a passion for all forms of Media. Between high school and College I worked with a Miami based director handling lights, cameras, jibs, and editing videos for several artists that mostly worked on the music industry. After that I worked for a nonprofit called YesHeis were I was able to participate in several projects including the creation of print and online marketing materials, editing of tv shows, filming and editing several short films, worked on radio, editorial design, and of course graphic design. Today I am an Instructional Designer at Florida International University. All of these different experiences drove me into realizing that there is some much more to learn in the field of design and there are many exiting things that I still need to explore.
Most importantly I know that I only was able to build all this experience with the help of other professionals that saw my passion of media and decided to give me a chance. The influences of these individuals opened me into exploring other fields and to come to the understanding that I need to learn more in order to be able to guide others in the same way that it was done with me.
I am on the Media Design MFA program because I have a need to learn all aspects of design. I want to be able to become a much more knowledgeable professional and to be able to guide other like minded people in their careers. My dream is to be able to take over big projects without the need of learning on the spot and to instead use that time to teach and guide others just how It was done with me in the past.
